Who We Are
GAPWUZ is a membership based trade union formed by the farm workers in 1982 and was registered in 1985 and then certified in 1986. It represents the interests of the farm workers from all the sectors in the Agriculture industry.

There are innumerable benefits to being a member of GAPWUZ. Here are just a few of them:
- Minimum wages for the different sectors in the agricultural industry are negotiated by the union.

GAPWUZ has offices in Harare, Marondera, Chegutu, Karoi, Rusape, Mutare, Chipinge, Norton, Chinhoyi, Gweru, Bulawayo, Concession, Mvurwi, Banket, Ruwa, Macheke, Beatrice, Kariba
Check off system : The employer deducts the 2% and transfer the amount to the Union’s bank account.
Physical collection of dues
Any farm worker from grade A1 to C2.
Minimum wages differ for each of the sectors (General Agriculture, Sugarcane, Tea and Coffee, Kapenta, Horticulture, Timber and Agro). In addition, in each sector, the minimum wage will depend on the grade of the employee. Have a look at our download section which has the minimum wages for the different sectors.
The farm employees who have signed a stop order form joining GAPWUZ and subscribing to the union.
The dues that you pay every month allow the union to meet the operational costs and to continue providing services of value to you.
Michael Mukokeza rose from rank and file member and became active in union activities carrying out organizing and recruitment activities in Mt Hampden area and along Shamva road farms. He was elected into the workers’ committee and was trained as a shopsteward and was able to handle grievances for workers in the Lomagundi branch in the absence of the area officer. He was then employed as GAPWUZ full time organizing secretary for Harare and Beatrice.
Peter Howa rose from rank and file and was an activist and was elected into the union national executive as the vice pressident and later became GAPWUZ organizing secretary for Concession covering areas of Mazowe, Bindura, Glendale and Chiweshe.
